One reason why brands can stick around for so long is their marketing tactics and their overall brand image. Take a look at some corporate brands who have updated their logos once or twice since their initial debut. Its no wonder why they have such longevity. Apple has updated four times since 1976. They went rainbow from 1976-1998, they tried a black out in 1998, and currently they use the gradient gray apple mark. Shell gas stations have evolved a lot since 1900. The shell has gone from black and white to red and yellow with 10 different variations in between. BMW has evolved their famous
BMW Emblem as well since their debut. The iconic black and white sphere has undergone six plastic surgeries overall. Nike went from a gaudy swoop and font to a straight up swoop, no nike in current times. Their logo changed four times since 1971. IBM has undergone some major logo remakes. Since 1888, their logo has changed eight different times. Kodak began in 1907 with a very odd black and white logo. Now, their logo is typographically sound exhibiting a bold red and image free mark. They have tried seven different logos. Volkswagens emblem used to be black and white as well. Sinec 200, their logo is much more industrial and consumer friendly changing four times since 1939. Pepsi has tried so many logos since 1898. Their logo underwent 11 major revamps and survives today as a beautiful red and blue ball with a white swirl for American. General Electric has changed their logo seven times since their black and white mark from 1892. Ford Motors has also changed logos eight times since all the way back in 1903. Other companies who have evolved their logos overtime are Mercedes, Walmart, Nokia, LG, Microsoft, MasterCard, and my personal favorite Adidas.About the Author:
