Even though we are not at the stage where robots are ruling the earth and taking
care of everything for us, it has to be said that the use of technological products is on the rise, especially in the home. Whether it is computer gadgets and technology or labour saving devices, the modern home has an abundance of gadgets which helps to make life so much easier for the family. This is noticed by children and it is easy to see why these youngsters think that gadgets and technological products are the way forward. Capturing the confidence of a child is an important thing for teachers to do and this is where classroom technology can really come to life.
The beauty of classroom technology is that it offers nothing more challenging than a child will have to use at home. This immediately provides a comfort level for every youngster which should see them work quickly in the classroom. It is not an exaggeration to say that the vast majority of students have a strong chance of being more comfortable with certain products and technology gadgets than their teacher, so this should mean that pupils are relaxed. Helping children to feel comfortable in the classroom is a major issue for any teacher so it has to be said that anything which helps this happen is a massive boost for the education process.
One example of classroom technology that will be instantly familiar to pupils has to be buzzers or student response systems. These remote controls work by allowing pupils to press a buzzer which corresponds to an answer in a quiz and their answer will be allocated to their name on a database. Given that children are comfortable with remote controls for their televisions and game consoles, a standard student response system in the classroom will cause no fear or concern for them at all.
The same can be said for interactive whiteboards which can be used like a massive television set or even like a large tablet. There are different ways to interact with the whiteboard but none of them will be too daunting for a pupil which again, has to be considered a highly positive aspect for the school and educating body. Classroom technology will provide many benefits to the users but one of the biggest benefits will be comfort and confidence. There should be a difference between school life and home life but making some of the features similar is not a bad way to encourage progress.
