Clean Up Your Computer With Registry Easy
Personal computers all have one factor in common
. They all require security and maintenance, and neglect of either can cause substantial problems. We are all aware of the havoc a virus or malware can cause, but often there are other issues giving us headaches. The registry portion of a Windows hard drive can become corrupted, and can result in severe operational slowdowns or even shutdowns if not resolved. Registry Easy seeks out these trouble areas and provides solutions to common errors.
What is a registry, anyway? On Windows systems, it is the database that stores options and configurations. It contains the settings and operating system components for device drivers, user interfaces, SAM (software asset management), services, and the kernel. In other words it is part of the essential function and viability of a Windows machine, and cleaners are designed to remove data that is no longer needed, or was unwanted in the first place. This can include incompletely or incorrectly uninstalled software, useless information, and missing file links.
They automatically perform a job that would be impractical or time-consuming for most computer owners. A program like this is designed to go after missing file references, invalid entries or broken links, and for users who regularly add and delete new software they can be a big help. There is, however, some difference of opinion regarding which and how many references to remove. In the past, some programs have been unable to distinguish between severe problems and minor issues. Others have deleted entries that should have been kept, and thus contributed to a problem rather than resolving it.
It is impossible to discuss such cleaners without a warning about some unscrupulous past programs. A few products grab your attention by claiming to have already detected problems. They actually insert malware during diagnosis, and it must then be removed before things work right again. It is always the best practice to avoid downloading or accepting any program without reading any reviews first. Then, if you are sure the software is right for your problem and won't add to it, proceed with caution.
Before a corrupted registry becomes an even bigger trauma there are steps which should be taken. These are every-day precautions, not esoteric knowledge. Check your Windows firewall, and if it is turned off activate it, because it can stop intrusions before they happen. When your computer wants to update, don't ignore it, but take the time to download the latest security and operational software changes. Invest in good anti-spy and anti-virus software, and don't assume that you won't need it, because everyone who surfs the Internet exposes their PC to potential dangers. Don't simply click on an attachment or file transfer without knowing where it came from.
Avoid pirated software for obvious reasons, and when clicking on links heed the warnings that may appear. If your computer says the site may cause damage, don't open it. And always use strong passwords, those which have at least eight characters, and use a combination of numbers, letters, and symbols. Even the most stringent security measures, however, can't always protect everyone from all menaces. When a registry becomes corrupted, it may become necessary to use a product such as Registry Easy to improve performance and make your device speedy again.
