That is very common. As my friend's DV1315 AC adapter, he threw it into the pool once he had the shower. What a tragedy for his laptop without the adapter.

More software installed, more convenient?

Some users like to install enough software without considering whether he needs it or not. My friend takes his laptop for daily use like browsing website, watching movies and so on. But he had some software of picturing and editing, games and etc. They took too much room of the hard disc. That's why he is always complaining about the slow speed to open the website.

Dismantle by yourself?

the big difference between laptop and the desktop is the size. But they have the same function. That means the laptop is more precise and more dedicated. When there is something wrong with your laptop, don't try to open the laptop by yourself. for a desktop, you can dismantle it, and there won't be a big problem even if you have no idea of how to re-install. That is absolutely forbidden for a laptop. That is the same to the DV1315 AC adapter. If you do so, the manufacturer won't repair it for warranty.

Usage of CD-ROM?

For me I think the vulnerable component is the CD drive. It's easy to age and shorten its function. Most notebook drives are no exception.

Cooling problem

It's the design that lead to dissipation problem. Due to space constraints and power requirements, there can not be installed with a large fan like the desktop. Then we have to take some steps to help the laptop get cool. We can add a cooling pad to the laptop. In high temperature weather, place the laptop in a cool environment with air-conditioner.
