Cleaning Tips For Soft And Hard Contacts

, which is why so many million people today do so. Getting rid of the glasses is a dream for most, not having to worry about where you put them, or them sliding down the nose on a hot day. Plus many feel that it makes them look better to wear contact lenses rather than glasses. For whatever reason people choose contacts, the proper care is necessary to ensure they can wear them comfortably without risk of infection or irritation.

Soft contact lenses are the most popular choice today, but they are also more likely to absorb pollutants than the hard ones. Proper cleaning daily and each time that you remove them is necessary. Special cleaners have been created just for this type of contact and should be used.

Cleaning them is rather easy though. With your clean hands remove your first contact lenses and place it in your palm. Add a few drops of the cleaner to the surface and using a finger gently rub the solution for about a minute into the lens. Then rinse the lens with the solution, place it back in its case, and fill that up with the same solution.

Certain types of soft contact lenses do need a special cleaning process. This is a heat cleaning process that deep cleans the lenses. Your doctor or eye glass place should let you know about this whenever you go for them.

Hard contact lenses are still worn today, although not as popular in some areas. They are rigid so they don't absorb the dirt like the soft ones do, but still require their own special cleaning process. What is the same for both kinds is the absolute necessity of clean hands though.

After you take the first contact out, gently work the cleaning solution into the lens. Be careful with how much pressure you apply as too much may tear it. When the cleaning is done, it will need to be rinsed well with regular tap water. As a special rinsing solution isn't needed, you can just put them in their case and soak them in their own solution to keep them fresh. Repeat the process with the other lens.

You want to make sure that you take care of your contact lenses during cleaning and otherwise, a simple rule is to take one lens out at a time, generally the same one, and clean it first so there is no mix up. You should also sterilize them once a week in their case as that will reduce any risk of infections when you wear them. If you fill the lens case with solution before placing the clean lens in, this can help prevent any damage. It is recommended not to swim with them in as the soft ones may absorb any chemicals in the water and it is easy for the hard ones to fall out. Always keep them moist, so when not wearing them, always store them properly.

Wearing contact lenses today is no big thing and almost everyone that wears glasses has at least one pair on hand. Proper handling and care will allow your lenses to last longer and prevent any infections or irritations when you do wear them. These cleaning tips can help you enjoy a long relationship with your contacts in a comfortable and stressful way.
