One problem many people have with conventional glass cleaners is that they are expensive and leave ugly streaks behind. White vinegar, however, can be used in place of all those other cleaners. It is the only true streak-free cleaner available and can be purchased in large quantities for under three dollars. Furthermore, it's completely safe and free of harmful fumes. You can even use it on chrome to make it shine brilliantly.

Carpet Freshener

Carpeting is notorious for trapping foul odours, which can be particularly bad if you have carpets. Rather than shampooing every month, many homeowners simply assume that they will never get rid of the smells. Fortunately, baking soda provides a convenient and inexpensive solution. Just sprinkle it onto your carpets and rugs, let sit for a few minutes and vacuum.

Clean Grime from Walls

The kitchen is a messy place. No matter how careful you think you are, things always seem to wind up splattered on the wall. Grease is among the worst of these things because it inevitably dries into sticky globs that refuse to come off. Substances like scouring cleanser and rubbing alcohol just don't work. Instead, try using a pine-based cleaner. These products contain pine oil and other surfactants that are not only good for making floors shine but also for cutting through dried grease with ease. American households spend tons of money each year on dusting sprays that do little to control dust and only serve to make their furniture and homewares greasy. Instead, try using a micro-fibre rag or some of those electrostatic dusting cloths. These essential tools can be purchased cheaply at dollar stores and can be re-used many times.

Unclog Drains

Clogged drains are a common problem and are usually combated by using dangerous and expensive chemicals that can damage your plumbing. When things become stopped up or aren't draining as quickly as they should be, your best bet is to use baking soda and vinegar. Pour a quarter cup of baking soda down the drain, followed by a cup of vinegar. Cover the drain so the pressure can build up and dislodge the blockage.
