Clear Your Cookies to Fix 500 Error
500 Error refers to a family of error messages that appear on your computer screen when a website you are visiting has an internal problem displaying the information you are looking for.
These are a form of server-side error. This means the error relates to the website you are visiting, and probably means the company that publishes the website is experiencing a technical fault or some other delay. In simple terms, there is nothing wrong with your PC.
The 500 family of errors include 10 different error messages. These are the most common three:
500 Internal Server Error: This is a generic error message which just means the site doesn't know the cause of the problem.
503 Service Unavailable: This error could mean the server is down with too many information requests , or the site owner has taken the page down to perform maintenance on the site.
504 Gateway Timeout: This error means the website uses a proxy server, or third-party server. It has tried to load your webpage, but the primary server has taken too long to provide the information
Try these tips if you see a 500 Error:
Clear your cookies and reload the website
Deleting cookies will reset your browser to view the site fresh, which means your browser will reload the page as it is was loading it for the first time. Here's how to clear your cookies:
Internet Explorer 6
Select Tools -> Internet Options -> General -> Delete Cookies -> Yes -> OK
Internet Explorer 7
Select Tools -> Delete Browsing History -> Delete Cookies -> Yes
Firefox
Select Tools -> Clear Private Data -> select the Cookies checkbox -> Clear Private Data Now
Clear your registry
If you notice no change in the website after a lot of attempts, you may need to clear out your old files. You may even be a victim of spyware from the site, which means you should clean out your computer's registry.
The computer registry is similar to a library, that stores files to maintain Internet Explorer. Over time, as software and files are installed and removed, and common programs are used more than others the computer registry becomes cluttered with broken and redundant files. Scanning your registry for broken files will make sure your file system is up to date. For recommendations, see registry cleaner reviews atRegistry Cleaner Win.
Spyware or virus
If you see continuous 500 Errors, it's possible your computer has spyware or a virus. If your files have been corrupted or moved, you may want to check your hard drive by scanning your computer for Spyware. You can get rid of Spyware immediately with an antivirus program.
