The earliest signs of life in Paris date around 4200 BC

. A sub-tribe of the Celtic Senones called the Parisii, were settled in the area near the river Seine about 250 BC. The Romans conquered in 52 BC. The Frankish king Clovis I established Paris as his capital in 508. Paris is located in Ile-de-France. Paris is the capital and largest city of France. It is on the river Seine, in northern France. Paris is considered one of the three most important and influential cities in the world and in the top ten of the wealthiest cities.

Paris has been one of the most popular tourist destinations in the world. The city offers many famous landmarks, famous institutions and popular parks. The largest opera house is the nineteenth-century Opera Garnier. The Rock en Seine is a popular yearly festival. Popular historical sites include the Eiffel Tower, the Louvre Museum Palace of Versailles, and Arc de Triomphe. During the French Renaissance, some of the talented artists from Spain and Italy were invited to visit. During the rule of Louis XIV,the Baroque style from Italy reached Frane to his delight.

They have found some of the oldest pictures in the world painted on the walls in caves in France. This was just the beginning of the multitude of famous art work ahead for France. In the twelfth century, France was into the Gothic style and lead this trend.

As the Renaissance grew, the shift from Gothic moved to include the visiting Italian artists. So many worthwhile artists lived in France that it would be difficult to name the all. The Thinker by Rodin comes to mind first. The group lead by Monet that called themselves the Impressionists. Paul Cezane, a post Impressionist. The Fauvre,lead by Henri Matisse. Many works can be seen at the famous Louvre Museum. Here you will also find the famous painting The Mona Lisa. Some other worthwhile museums to see are the Musee de Cinema, Musee de l'Armee, Musee de l'Homme and the Palais de la Decouvert Pantheon.
