Mt. Longonot is one of those gems in Kenya situated along the Great Rift and fall
within the heart of L. Naivasha and Hells Gate another exciting place to explore the beauty of nature. Mt Longonot is accessible through Naivasha National Park. There are guards at the gate ready to assist in anything especially if one requires a guard. You pay at this point before proceeding on a path that leads to the mountain.
Mt. Longonot is best to climb as a group. It's not that high and the climate is usually very conducive but group climbing make the experience once in a lifetime. The journey to the top takes around an hour and some minutes depending on your pace. At the top of the mountain one gets a scenic observation of L. Naivasha and the town it's self. The Great depression of the Rift Valley in also well observed. The mountain is now dormant volcano and lush green trees grow inside the crater.
Mt. Longonot is not only the final destination from there. There is Hell Gate another gem located in the Naivasha Park. Though the gates are not for real but two giant walls there is a lot of activities people can do here. There are bikes for hire and also wild animals as one goes deep into the park. One can also visit Lake Naivasha for boat rides. You even decide to higher a boat to the Crescent Island that is found inside the lake. The island infested gazelles and reptiles.
