Clothes To Wear When You Are In Bali
Bali continues to be a place that fascinates people
. Many tourists, both local and international, come to the island to have a unique experience. However, tourists have to consider a lot of things in order to make their stay worthwhile and memorable. Such factors they have to take note of include the Bali villas and
Bali luxury villas where they can stay in; the activities they will do like swimming, surfing, snorkeling, Frisbee; the places to see like the boutiques and restaurants, spas, and temples. More importantly, people have to consider the clothes they are going to wear in Bali so that they will feel comfortable and avoid being the subject of scrutiny by the locals.
Bali is a tropical island off the coast of Indonesia. Therefore, the weather in Bali is mostly hot and dry which makes clothing that is made of light silk, viscose, and cotton the best and most appropriate clothes to wear.
It is interesting to note that in Bali, ones clothes are a status symbol. Therefore, everyone in Bali tries to avoid wearing clothing that is dirty and ragged. The women, more particularly, wear the sarong. This piece of clothing is a combination of a skirt and blouse.
Another type of clothing commonly found in Bali is the Kamben which can be worn by both men and women. An example for this is the batik which is a very light cloth and worn by wrapping it around the body. For men, they wear this by wrapping it around their waist and making a fold in the center, while for women, they wrap it around their hips without making any fold.
For affairs and occasions which are more formal, a saput is put over the Kamben. This saput is either a bright yellow or white shirt that has a decorative border and usually has buttons of gold color.
The Anteng is a type of clothing worn by Balinese women when inside the temple during religious ceremonies. It is used to expose the shoulder area of the women but cover the upper part of her body. To accentuate it, a shawl or Selendang is used as it can also be used to cover the body when necessary.
For the days of hard work and labor like farming, the Kebaya is worn by Balinese people to allow them much movement without getting them exposed to the sun.
During weddings and other special occasions, Balinese women also wear the Tapih. It is an underskirt worn by wrapping around the body. It is then covered with a Sabuk or a colored sash.
These are the usual and more native clothes worn by Balinese. Though it is not imperative for tourists to wear the same clothes as the Balinese, they may also opt to do so. They just have to wear the dress with dignity and avoid insulting the Balinese people.
Aside from the
luxury villas in bali, Bali villas resort, and private villas in Bali, the traditional costumes and clothing of Balinese people are also as interesting.
