It is a different concept of providing service that allows resources to be shared over the Internet browser without necessarily divulging the location the resources such as information are coming from with a cloud server. It is likened to a solar photovoltaic grid that stores power generated by the sun and delivers it. A broad overview is not an adequate definition because this new technology encompasses so much more.

Predictions for this technology are all positive. Experts expect it to continue to succeed and grow in the next five years. It is unique in that end users receive services without being informed where they are sent from. The configuration of the services that are delivered to the end users do not have to be understood by them.

In 2012 cloud services will be bought by 80 percent of all businesses in the Fortune 1000 group. Any security concerns are already being followed with the goal of new protection being put in place. One financial whiz is certain that sensitive information will be safer. It is currently safe, however, being managed externally, new issues may surface in the coming year.

Security is a priority. When new methods of transmitting information on the Internet combine with new methods of securing that information there are going to be unexpected issues. These issues are divided into different groups to be dealt with. Some of those groups are sensitive data access, malicious insiders and bug exploitation. All will be provided with solutions to minimize risk.

Safety for the planet is not being overlooked by those inventive IT guys. Green computing is the act of creating and using the new technology without putting more stress on the environment than necessary. Techniques will be put into motion to reduce the power drain. Any compromise that can be made, will be made. Carbon footprints, that represent the impact of power consumption on the earth, are going to be reduced as much as can be feasibly instituted.

One Vice President of Marketing for one of the major data centers stated that public power failures were inevitable in 2012. In 2010 and 2011 there were such outages. Customers do not consider it a monumental situation. New ways of dealing with such interruptions are developed as needed. He also predicts that the LAN barrier will be penetrated by one of the companies using cloud computing. Another thing expected to happen is the significant improvements in Infrastructure 2.0.

This technology will make it possible for anyone to act as a service provider. Dependence on infrastructure, which used to be necessary is no longer needed. A company that wants employees who work from home will find it easier. An employee who travels will be able to access files from any part of the world. The access can be from any device that is capable of connecting to the Internet.

Another independent expert says this technology will be a boon to many developing countries on the continent of Africa. One unique prediction for 2012 is that African governments will benefit because of this new technology. It is a significant tool for them to use. Cloud computing will facilitate economic growth in countries all over the world.
