Genetics is the science of genes, heredity, and variation in living organisms which deals with the molecular structure and function of genes. In simpler words the genetics is the study of traits one inherit from there parents in form of genes.

Genes plays an important role in determining some ones appearance and behavior of organisms, it is the combination of genetics with what an organism experiences that determines the ultimate outcome. Also the parents can also transfer diseases and disorder to their children. Also sometimes the abnormalities in genes can cause genetic disorder.

Vitiligo is not at all a life threatening disease however it has very serious impact ones life due as it is a cosmetic issue. Vitiligo is suspected to be among one of the genetic disorder and it is believed that as with all genes, people may carry the defect that causes vitiligo, and even pass it on to their children, without ever developing vitiligo themselves. Thus other factors, including environmental and personality factors, may play a role in the onset (beginning) of vitiligo.

Around 30% of Vitiligo patients have inherited the disease, and even in monozygotic twins. The severity and course of the disease differs from person to person. However, in many cases, the de-pigmentation begins in a small area. Over time, other spots may appear, while existing spots may grow larger. Experts believe, and data supports the theory, that one must be genetically susceptible, in order to develop vitiligo. But it is contradicted by many others as they believe that the others factors play a very important for the onset of vitiligo and not everyone who is susceptible to vitiligo will necessarily develop. Thus, the Vitiligo treatment achieved on the basis of this Vitiligo cause has limitation and only a few people can be benefited by it. Also, these treatments for Vitiligo have limitations and some complications may also occur while undergoing these treatments.

Many researches are being conducted to attain the real reason for the occurrence of the disease so that a permanent Vitiligo cure can be attained; however there are treatments that are being used for the management of the disease.
