There is little to beat the sight of Clydesdale horses pulling a sled through a snow specked landscape

. These Christmas ads from Anheuser-Busch Company are known and loved by all. Regardless of whether you're a beer drinker, the Bud ads conjure nostalgia for times and holidays of our pasts.

Clydesdales vary in hue. They can be various shades of bay (brown)the chestnut (light reddish-brown), or black in color, alternatively. But the ideal Budweiser Clydesdale is bay. His face has a white blaze on it. Both his mane and tail are black.

Besides the grace and beauty of the Clydesdales as they trot, one of their most remarkable features is the flow of their motion enhanced by their feathery lower leg hairs when they move. White is not the only coloring available for feathering. In order to be called a Budweiser Clydesdale a horse must have white feathering on all four feet.

Anheuser-Busch tells us in no uncertain terms, that all of the famous Budweiser Clydesdales have been gelded and have a very even temperament.

Hailing from the town of Clydesdale, Scotland, the Clydesdale is a breed of draft horse that was bred from its farm horse forbears. For more than 300 years, the Clydesdale breed has been around. Until the 1960s, the Clydesdale horse was pulling large and heavy loads in many Scottish towns and cities.

Clydesdale horses are often referred to as the "gentle giants" of horse breeds. The label is the right size The Clydesdale is a very large horse, but with an elegant movement and a steady, attractive character. They don't excite easily.

The Clydesdale Horse Society calls the movement of these large and lovely horses as "gaiety of carriage and outlook" because of their easily distinguished gait.

The next time you see an Anheuser-Busch commercial, don't overlook the stunning Clydesdale horses!
