Winter is definitely on its way, and with it, the new winter collections will be hitting the stores. The best part of winter is definitely bundling up with warm, stylish winter accessories. Is there anything more heavenly than the perfect hat, bag or scarf?

How do you choose the perfect winter accessories, and how do you coordinate these accessories together? Usually, you can't buy a matching scarf, gloves, hat and bag all in the one set, and even if you could, you probably wouldn't want to (why rob yourself of a perfectly fun shopping experience?)

You should choose a hat, scarf, gloves and bag that match each other closely in style, color and texture. Choose a color that coordinates with the rest of your wardrobe, but don't feel you have to limit yourself to black. If you wear mostly black, why not choose all bright red accessories to give your outfits a pop of color?

The first item you should start with is a hat. Spend some time in a hat store trying on different styles and colors to see what suits you best. As a guide, berets look best on longer faces, while men's hats like bowlers and trilbys look great on rounder faces, and the feminine cloche looks stunning on a heart-shaped face.

Once you've chosen your hat, find the gloves and scarf to match. When choosing cloves and scarves, pay particular attention to the materials used. Although acrylic is cheaper, it tends to be itchier, and doesn't keep the wind and rain away from your skin quite like wool. Leather gloves are another excellent option these look stunning paired with a long wool coat and scarf.

After you've chosen these, head to your favorite bag shop and choose a style that works in well with the rest of your choices.

Now you have your basics down, you can choose a couple of "signature" winter accessories to jazz up your outfits. A bright-colored scarf or zany hat needs to be the focal point of your outfit, so keep the rest of your clothes and accessories quite toned down. Co-ordinate your signature pieces with the colors of your staple winter accessories and you have a stunning winter outfit to wear anywhere.
