Something that you will realize when you go to this neighborhood called South Portland is that it is long and narrow

. It is located right south of the city's downtown and is bordered on either side by West Hills and Willamette River. It is one of the best Portland neighborhoods where you would love to own a property and even stay on rent. South Portland Oregon was formerly called Corbett-Terwilliger-Lair Hill before the present name was adopted in 2006.

South Portland gives you easy connection to some of the very well known Portland Oregon neighborhoods. As you travel in any direction for a couple of miles you will be able to cover the other neighborhoods of Brooklyn, South Burlingame, Homestead, Southwest Hills, Hillsdale, Hosford-Abernethy and Sellwood-Moreland. South Portland itself consists of some of the very historic areas of the city. Areas like South Waterfront, Corbett, Terwilliger, Johns Landing and Lair Hill together form this neighborhood. These parks are Willamette Park, South West Terwilliger Boulevard Parkway, Heritage Tree Park, Duniway Park, Butterfly Park, Cottonwood Bay, Front & Curry Community Garden, Lair Hill Park and Water & Gibbs Community Garden.

Staying in South Portland is an absolute pleasure. The whole area has a population of only just over 5,000. 42 percent of the total number of houses is owned and 58 percent are rented. Hence, there is ample chance for you to either buy a property here or even stay on rent.
