Common Grammar Mistakes

No one can escape from the common grammatical errors which we all make in our daily life. Even native English speakers make quite a lot of grammatical mistakes and the main reason behind these errors is that the English grammar is quite dense and vast and it is quite impossible to master this domain. We all might know the commonly occurring grammar which we used in day to day life but most of us are not aware of the very intricate English grammar details and thus make mistakes at some point in their writing life. Sometimes, we are so used in speaking certain grammatical forms in our daily life that we hardly recognize the grammatical fault when we repeat the same in our writing world. It is important that we stay away from grammatical mistakes because it is true that if your writing contains a wide number of grammatical errors then readers are bound to shun your work and will not be ready to read the full written work. As readers, they might feel that if you have not taken extra concern on the grammar part, then the knowledge which you would like to share will also not be in good standards. Certain very common grammatical errors which are mainly seen in the written world are:

Abstract nouns normally do not make use of the definite article when they are used in generalizations. For instance, the right usage will be like

The gang cannot distinguish good from bad.'

And the wrong usage will mainly be

They come home'

Many a times inconsistent tenses become a part of our colloquial language and then we use them in writing as well which poses a big threat. For instance, many of us do use the present continuous in place of the present simple such as The atmosphere is tense and the author intensifies it with his words' which is a wrong usage.

In many circumstances, wrong use of the infinitive is also observed which is used in place of the present participle. One example of this is as follows:

This is a way to protect herself and to avoid showing what she really feels'

This shows that she is not used to going into her son's room.'

The infinitive is also used many times instead of the present participle like

This is a way to protect herself and to avoid showing what she really feels'

This shows that she is not used to going into her son's room'

Many a times the sub clause that' is used in the wrong tense which is a very bad way of writing. Readers doubt the skill of such writers who do not understand how they should regard such writers who do not know to use the word that'. Mainly, the usage of that' is confused with that of the infinitive which certainly confuses the readers to a very high degree.

Also, one of the commonly occurring grammar errors is the use of can' instead of may'. This confusion confuses the readers a bit more and they do not understand if what they are reading is in accordance with English grammar or not.
