Common Old Misconceptions In The Fitness World

In this article I will be discussing what I think are very common misconceptions about health and weight loss

. I feel as if many of these misconceptions have been around forever but I intend to have those who read this article realize they simply are not true. In addition to touching on these common misconceptions I will also touch on following online fitness programs. Following online fitness programs is probably the top way you can get instruction from a personal trainer. I will describe the many advantages that online fitness programs in great length. The first thing I will discuss is the misconception that all sugar affects the body in the same way. This may be the biggest misconception circulating in the health and fitness world today and it may come as a surprise to some but this isn"t true. The second misconception I will discuss is the one that suggests women are capable of gaining as much muscle mass as men can. This is a misconception that discourages many women from training with weights even though it"s not true. The last misconception I will try to expel is the idea that if you do a high number of repetitions with a low level of resistance you will burn fat around that muscle group you are training.

Not all sugar is the same and you should never believe anyone who says it is. I have even heard doctors say that all sugar affects the body in the same way. Let me explain exactly how sugar is different by first describing a sugar molecule called fructose. Fructose is a sugar found in fruit and doesn"t cause a spike in your blood sugar level. The fact that it doesn"t cause a spike in your blood sugar level is what separates it from other kinds of sugar. To further explain the idea of it not causing a spike in your blood sugar I"ll explain something called the glycemic index. The glycemic index is a scale that ranks how quickly something can raise your blood sugar level and is ranked from 1 to 100. Fructose has a glycemic index of about 19 which is very low on this scale. Let"s look at another kind of sugar that is usually found in cake or soda and other junk foods called sucrose. Sucrose is the table sugar added to foods that are generally unhealthy. Sucrose has a glycemic index of about 70 which is obviously a lot higher than fructose. So know you know that the sugar in fruit is much different than the sugar in soda so you know now to believe anyone who says otherwise.

The next misconception I want to explain away is the idea that women can gain a considerable amount of muscle or an amount that rivals what a man is capable of gaining. The only reason men are able to gain as much muscle mass as they can is because they can generate a sizable amount of androgen hormones that allow them to synthesize so much muscle tissue. Women only generate a small amount of androgen hormones so it isn"t really possible for a woman to generate very much muscle mass naturally. The women who do generate that much muscle are the female bodybuilders who use anabolic steroids.

The last misconception I want to discuss is the idea that if you performed a particular weight training exercise for a high number of repetitions you will wind up burning fat around that muscle or muscle group. This isn"t possible and relates to another misconception called spot reduction. The truth is this isn"t how weight loss works. The liver is what ultimately regulates weight loss by releasing enzymatic compounds called ketone bodies which are released when there isn"t enough of a substance called glycogen available in the liver. These ketone bodies spread evenly throughout the body and break down fatty acids. This process doesn"t happened on localized areas.


The final thing I wanted to mention is the use of online fitness programs which are really the best way to get in shape. Online fitness programs are created by actual personal trainer assuming you are using a good high quality program. Unlike the personal trainer as the gym, online fitness programs are much more affordable and convenient to use.
