Communication is Overrated

Communication is Overrated

Communication is Overrated

We hear it all the time. But do we listen? Probably not. Communication is overrated. The verbal kind. We all want more of it when we want it. We all want less of it when we don't. Frankly I am alittle communicated-out. I don't know about you but I get alittle tired of all the different forms of communication.

Let's list them: talking (and all the different volumes and tones that go with it), writing, typing, texting, emailing, face booking, tweeting, blogging, news lettering, social bookmarking, advertising, television, radio, smoke signaling.and on and on and on and on and on. I am sure I missed a few, but I communicated all that in one breath.

I like communicating, don't get me wrong, I am female after all. What I don't like is that we have to communicate in so many different ways ALL DAY LONG. I am thinking of throwing my Blackberry away, it really is addictive. What do I do when I get up in the morning? Well the first thing is I start to think about all the people I need to communicate withif I am not interrupted in sleep by the communication of 3 little girls, Chiclets we call them, either laughing or yelling at each other.

So my day begins like this. I get up and make a pit stop first, then I fire up my computer, turn on my BB, make a tea, go back to my computer and BB, check emails and texts, respond to the easy ones first, survey my to do' list. I am not done checking my communication yet.I go to face book, twitter, banking. Depending what day it is, I check the status of my Google ad words and analytics, Kijiji ads, constant contact.God forbidden any of these require my attention, after all I just want to know who communicated with me. Let's not forget the Blog. It's all about the blog.

I am still not done. There's the personal interaction that needs my attention; the 3 Chiclets standing in front of my desk wanting to have face to face communication. I don't know how many times I said; just give me a minute', I am almost done', go brush your teeth and when you are done, come back and we can talk', not right now dear I am little busy'. Now they are into their double digits, and time is flying faster and faster, I have to stop and think; have I spent enough time with them?

The good news is that they have email accounts.
