A compact ice machine is simply a machine that makes ice period. Akin to a standard refrigerator it produces lower temperatures with the sole purpose of creating ice put inside it. Most of the models out there now are small enough to fit under a bar or even to be stored on top of a counter. Either way, this appliance can come in handy and can be quite useful.

The beauty of this machine is not because of its ability to make ice, but its size. This makes it ideal for small eateries, cafes, home and even the office. It is basically a plug and play device, no further installation is required once you plug it into the socket.

Most of these ice machines make ice pretty fast, basically since that is what they are built for. Standard units make around 12 ice cubes every six to eight minutes. That translates to around 120 cubes of ice per hour.

One can also select the size of the ice cubes also to further customize your ice. Some ice makers even have the added benefit of an installed water filter. Thus you can be assured of clean ice cubes as well.

Coming in a variety of finishes, you can choose ice machines depending on your taste. Most common finishes are white, stainless, bisque and titanium. Some come in even brighter and extravagant colors. However, for ease of placement, it is better to choose an ice machine in a neutral finish to avoid headaches on placement so to avoid it standing out and becoming an eyesore.
