Companies That Promote Bioplastics

As they continue to rack up a fortune by dominating their own industries

, several companies have seen the potentials and advantages of incorporating the eco-friendly material bioplastic in their businesses. Not only do they enhance the quality and image of their products but they also contribute to the worldwide campaign to reduce pollution caused by the dreaded non-biodegradable conventional plastic and its production.

The following companies are on their way to saving Gods green earth through bioplastic:

Coca-Cola Just last year, the maker of the popular carbonated beverage launched its campaign to reduce the impacts it creates to the environment by using the all new PlantBottle. Instead of the usual polyethylene terephthalate (PET), a combination of petroleum and bioplastic from sugar cane and molasses have been used in the PlantBottle. The company aims to manufacture around two billion PlantBottles by the end of this year.

Frito-Lay Both the inside and the outside of Sun Chips are now made from corn. Frito-Lay, the company behind the multigrain snack has incorporated bioplastic in its plastic packaging. According to the Sun Chips website, the plastic bag is made from corn-based bioplastic and is designed to break down in two weeks when placed in compost.

Toyota Years from now, Toyota will be unveiling its creation from the sea. The automobile giant is currently developing its plans to manufacture a car made entirely from seaweed-based bioplastic. In addition, an article posted in Japans http://techon.nikkeibp.co.jp states that Toyota has been using bioplastic since 2003 and one of the companys goals is to replace 20% of the plastic in all of its cars with bioplastic by 2015.

Samsung After shoving its way as the second largest mobile phone producer in the world, Samsung introduces a more environment friendly approach to the industry. From 2008 to 2009, the electronics company released mobile phones Samsung W510, Samsung E200 Eco and Samsung Reclaim. What makes these models special? Its exterior casings are all made from, you guessed it, bioplastic.

Wal-Mart In 2005, Wal-Mart announces its objectives to help the environment. The company aims to be supplied with nothing but renewable energy, to create zero waste and promote products that are beneficial to Mother Nature. In line with these, Wal-Mart has begun to use clear-plastic packaging made from bioplastic for fruits and vegetables.

It appears that more and more companies realize that bioplastic will benefit them in the long run. In press release published in Yahoo! News, the bioplastics industry is estimated to grow 13% every year until 2014. A conference for the marketing potentials of bioplastics is scheduled for June of this year in Shanghai, China.
