Comparing Ford Figo, Maruti Swift And Hyundai I10
With the launch of Figo, at a competitive price of Rs 3.5 lakh for the base variant
, the war in the hatchback segment has heated up. So, here is a little comparison to find out which hatchback out of
Ford Figo, Maruti Swift and Hyundai i10 is the fittest to survive.
Specifications:
Ford Figo is available in both the petrol and diesel engine options. The petrol version has a 1.2L petrol engine that produces 72bhp power and 104 Nm torque. The diesel engine has the 1.4L, Duratorq diesel engine produces 69bhp power and 160 Nm torque. Both the petrol and diesel versions of the Ford Figo have four variants each: Lxi, Exi, Zxi and Titanium. This all new car by Ford shares some of its elements with other Ford cars like the Mondeo, Focus and recently launched European Fiesta. The car's designing and engineering has been done by Ford Australia and has lots of attractive features especially its flamboyant interiors.
One of the close competitors of Figo is the Maruti Swift with its Common Rail Direct Injection Technology. The car's DDiS engine comes in two engine variants: the 85PS, 1.2-liter four-cylinder, K-series petrol engine, the 75PS and the 1.3-liter DDiS diesel engine. Both engines are available with five speed manual transmission gearbox. The new K-series engine has enhanced the performance of the car and it is Bharat IV complaint. The car is eager and responsive and sprints ahead beautifully. Maruti Swift's designing and styling is quite good and the car has rounded looks but space is a bi of a problem. But Swift's compact dimensions are an advantage in congested parking spaces. Other than the dimensions the car's other features are also interesting like its sporty headlamps, tight front grille combined with stylized tail lamps.
Hyundai i10 is available with two different capacity petrol engines. The 1.1L, 1086cc, IRDE petrol engine produces 66.7PS power at 5500rpm and 10.1kgm torque at 2500rpm. The 1.2L, 1197cc, Kappa engine produces 80PS power at 5200rpm and 11.4kgm torque at 4000rpm. The car comes in nine different variants. Hyundai i10's cabin is well insulated from the engine noise and also has standard features like front power windows, air conditioner with heater in all variants, rear wiper, rear power windows and defogger in i10 magna family. The key-less entry is also offered but only in Hyundai i10 magna option pack. The car's MDPS (Motor Driven Power Steering) and a good suspension set-up make the car easy to drive in traffic. The car also has an Anti-lock Braking system (ABS).
Price:
The price war in the auto industry is getting as nasty as the price wars in the cola segment. With Ford Figo being available in the price range of Rs 3,49,900 5,29,900 Hyundai i10 has a lot to think about with the i10 coming for Rs 3,41,274 5,34,981. Even Maruti Swift is very close to that price tag at Rs 3,99,987 5,26,647.But, it is not really possible to put a finger on one of these and declare it a winner. It remains to see how Figo ultimately performs on the roads and how Hyundai i10 and Maruti Swift wade off this competition.
