Comparing The Gbc Heatseal H320 And H420 Quickstart Pouch Laminators

GBC recently released two brand new machines: the HeatSeal H320 and H420 QuickStart Pouch Laminators

. Both of these devices are high-quality products that are easy to use and warm up very quickly, making them ideal for offices in which productivity is king. There are a few differences between these two items and this article will take a look at them so you will be able to determine which machine would be better for your particular needs.

The Differences

1.) Speed and capability. Both the H320 and H420 can be warmed up and ready to use in just one minute. This is one of the fastest warm-up times available in a pouch laminator. (The fast warm-up time is made possible thanks to the machines' halogen heating mechanisms.) As for the lamination speeds, the H320 can laminate a document that's 1.5 feet long in a minute whereas the H420 can laminate 2 feet of material in the same amount of time. Both of these machines have feed openings that are 12.5 inches wide, making them ideal for the lamination of legal- and letter-sized documents.

2.) Pouch thickness. When it comes to pouch thickness, the H420 definitely has the upper hand. The H320 can only handle two sizes of pouches: 3.0 and 5.0 mil. However, the H420 can handle both of these sizes, plus 7.0 mil pouches. So if you're really needed to use a sturdier pouch for your document, you should go with the H420.

3.) The price. Obviously there will be a price difference between the two machines. The H320 is priced at $229.00 while the H420 goes for $299.00. That's only a difference of $70.00, which may or may not be worth it because of how similar these machines really are. (Read on to discover their similarities.)

The Similarities

1.) The design of the machines. When it comes right down to it, these two products are more similar than different. They even look like twins. They both have a sleek black exterior with a control panel on the front. The control panels contain both buttons and LED lights.

2.) Quick release. Both of these devices come with a quick release system. This feature makes it easy to deal with a jammed or pouch that has been incorrectly fed into the system. You will also need to use carriers with both of these machines unless you enjoy cleaning up melted adhesive and dealing with a jammed machine.

3.) Quality and warranty. The H320 and H420 will both produce high-quality laminated documents all the time. There is no difference in laminating quality between these two machines. They also come with the same limited one-year warranty.

After taking a look at these machines, it's pretty obvious that there really aren't too many difference between them. They have the same warm-up time, the same size of feed opening, and they even look alike. Therefore, purchasing the H320 would probably be the smarter move unless you absolutely need to use 7.0 mil pouches or want a little bit faster laminating time. If not, save your $70.00 and get the H320 instead. That way you'll have a great new laminating device, as well as some extra money in your pocket.
