Comparing Wired Networks To Wireless Networks

There is a lot to consider when setting up a home network

. The first thing you want to decide is whether you want your network to be a wired LAN or a wireless LAN. You will see the pros and cons for both networks as we discuss their cost, reliability, and installation.

The cost that goes into a wired network is relatively low. There are expensive options out there such as a broadband router but this is not required. Because wired networks have been around for so long their prices have become very reasonable.

Wireless internet is more expensive during setup, but the time and energy it saves can be well worth the extra money spent. Wireless networks are becoming very popular. Because of this, you can already see a drop in prices. With time, there will be little difference in price between wired and wireless networks.

A wired network is known for its reliability. Because Ethernet has been around for quite a while, the products and equipment has had time to improve. Most problems with wired network come from the internet service or bad installation.

The reliability of a wireless network isn't the best but it's not all that bad. The past two years have really shown great improvement on their part. You can get a pretty good router now and with warranties and software updates, you won't really have to worry.

The easiest installation, hands down goes to the wireless networks. You don't have to mess with bunches of chords streaming across your house. There are just a couple parts that hook right into each other and that's it. You are able to connect to it anywhere as long as you have signal strength.

Installation for wired network is a huge drawback. You must find ways to run the cables from each computer which may require tearing up carpet, etc. It can create quite a mess and takes a lot of time to set up.

Picking the right network can be a chore. Make sure you know what you want in a home network before you make the choice. Wireless networks are more expensive but are worth their money with the benefits they provide. Whatever your choice may be, make sure you understand what you are getting into.
