Decorating your home with accessories can be time consuming but fun

. You have so much to choose from. You want to be able to sit down and relax in that room so you need to decorate it to suit you and your style.

Decorating you house with accessories such as lamps, area rugs or vases, is like giving the finishing touches or features to a bland and boring look. Simple things like show-articles or color stones in a transparent glass jar can be very eye catching. Many people who travel the world bring back little mementos of their journey, it has also been noticed that people working on ship or any other travel related career like to preserve similar objects. Some people may like only wrought iron accessories where even their heavily carved, cushioned sofa made of wrought iron sits pretty near an area rug with little curvy lamps placed at the side for more effect. Whereas some may like wood or brass or live on the edge with just glass, each ones choice would be different according to creative styles.

The great part is that it gives you a chance to show your creativity in a small way and in turn it enhances the appearance of the house. Here are a few ideas, in terms of accessories, that may strike a chord to what may have crossed your mind in the process of decorating your house or looking at pictures. You can go to your local antique or home accessories store or check and order it out on the net.

Tall Lampshades: Though you may think they are outdated, elegant figures or floor lamps are here to stay. They take up less space and add to the look of the room.

Use a tall lampshade. What this does is it adds elegance to your plain old floor lamps. A tall lampshade will save space and look good too.

Glass jars: Different sizes of glass jars with color pebbles sitting beautifully on shelves.

A glass jar filled with pebbles of all different colors is another way you can make your tables look good.

Designer Bookshelves: This is very useful if you have books lying around and no study room.

Candles belong on a candle stand. You may want to look in thrift shops and garage sales for an old candle stand. Then take it home and place some candles on your stand and you have a new look.

Using large vases filled with artificial flowers can give a room an instant facelift. You can use clay or brass pots, which ever one appeals to your eyes.

Center Table: Carved or engraved center tables look grand and at the same time useful when guests come. These come mostly in wood and wrought iron in all shapes and sizes.

Chandeliers: They are the center of attraction in the living room especially in the night when lit up. Choose a decorative one with many small bulbs to brighten up the room. Cleaning it up would be tedious but it would be worth the while.
