Computer technology has greatly improved. This technology dates back in the 19th century when the first computers used utilized vacuum tubes and transistors, were bulky, consumed very large spaces and were associated with overheating and needed cooling systems.The went on improving up to this very day that a computer can be as small as a book and can carryout numerous programs and tasks.

In this generation we have seen computer memory capacity both ram and rom being increased with high percentages. For instance One can be able to purchase a hard disk having a capacity of one tera byte. This something that would never have come into our minds a decade ago.Ram of high capacity such as 5GB which in the last decade was a hard disk capacity can also be found in the market.

There has also been the invention of such things as External hard disks which are high speed storage devices which can be attached to the computer through the universal serial port.Flash disks have also come up disks that enhance fast retrieval and installation of information as their name states.

Computer networks have also gone to a higher level.This has been availed by a number of inventions in the computer networking.For instance the new invention of the 3G networks which have been used to transmit high speed internet connections in different localities.However this network has been challenged by the latest invention; the 4G network which has been endorsed by several countries.

Also the invention of short range networks for instance infrared and bluetooth have also given a boost to networking.The main difference between bluetooth and Infrared is the radius by which the networks can be accessed. A Bluetooth enabled device can transmit data up to 12 meters,while an infrared device has a shorter range.

Another major boost to networking can be attributed to the invention of the fiber optic cable which has gone to the extent of even crossing oceans to transmit data.This cable has been known to transmit high speed Internet connections hence connecting a great number of computers. We cannot also forget the Improvement of computer processor speed which has also shown a great improvement.A computer can now be fitted with multiple processors to increase its speed .For instance the i7 computers are currently the fastest in processing speed.

Network monitoring has also become evident in modern It .This is to ensure anyone visiting a specific network has the right authority and intention.This has brought about security measures to be put in place to ensure intruders are kept out.However this has present a great task since hackers have ensured the network regulator never take a break from learning how to combat new hacking skills.The networks have used firewalls passwords,user identifications and other numerous techniques to do so.

Network monitoring has also been a challenge for large networks since its population gives it a high tendency of it being hacked easily.Larger networks therefore need more qualified personnel than other networks.
