Compression Socks And More For Running

Starting a new running regimen can be really exciting

, especially if you have never done it before. Running is great cardio as well as a great way to build up endurance. You may start out only running a mile but with a schedule and a bit of motivation, you can really work your way up to running long distances. Not only that, but running can also be a great way to clear the mind and put yourself in a better mood, knowing you did something good for yourself and your body. Getting started means having the right sports equipment first.

The most important item of all is your running sneakers. You shouldn't run in anything but athletic sneakers made for the sport; anything else can cause serious injury. Your choice of running sneakers is all preference, but something lightweight is usually preferred. You want to get a sneaker that fits, but isn't too tight, or you'll find the longer you run, the more the tip of your sneakers may rub on your toes. Give yourself a little wiggle room when trying them on. Running sneakers can be on the pricey side, but it is well worth it. Always remember to change your sneakers every 300 to 400 miles. Old running sneakers are one of the biggest reasons for injury.

Some runners like to also use compression socks when they run, especially when training to run long distances, like marathons. Compression socks increase blood flow and redirect blood back up to the heart instead of it pooling in the ankles. They can really help increase long term stamina and make those several miles just a little bit easier on your body. Compression socks come in all kinds of varieties, but cotton athletic knee high ones are your best bet when running.

You also need comfortable pants or shorts and a few different tops to wear, so you can always have something at the ready without having to wait on laundry. There are certain materials used in proper running clothes that will wick away sweat, which you'll definitely need especially in warmer climates.

So pick up a few outfits, some compression socks and a new pair of sneakers and get yourself going. Start off with a small goal and work your way up. Before you know it, you'll be running a few miles with ease and starting to really feel a lot better, physically and mentally.
