Compulab introduced Slim Fit-PC, which is the smallest unitcapableof runningWindowsXP in the world and just compete Linutop tested in our columns in June.
Themanufacturerhasmanagedto integrate an AMD Geode LX800 500 MHz CPU and GPU combination, 512 MB of DDR memory and a non-removable 2.5-inch HDD 60GB in aboxmeasuring only 10 x 11 x 3 cm. The machine is also equipped with Ethernet controllers and wireless 802.11 b / g and offers 3 USB ports, a VGA port and two jacks for audio inputs and outputs.
It can be delivered tochooseUbuntu, Gentoo, Windows XP, or without operating system in order to load directly from the network. Depending on configurations, it consumes 4 to 6 watts and will bemarketedfrom September 25 at prices ranging from 295 to 335 dollars (210 to 235 euros excluding tax).
In this small type it is not better, but I have trouble understanding the usefulness of wireless on thesemachines...

That thing is for people who have very limited needs or specific. I guess it will be well in a call center, where telephony is VoIP by the local network for which operators need only access to an intranet in the form of a website. At only 6 watts per machine, imagine the gain in energy (and up)!
