Computer Cable Management and TV Cable Management for mounts and brackets

The introduction of flat screen TV and PC monitors have added an air of sophistication to any home or office situation. Mounting either of these takes the look and feel to the next step, but there is one unfortunate by-product. Cables.

The more gadgets, and add-ons, the more cables are involved. Even though wireless technology has eased some of the burden, the hooking up of power, DVD's, Audio and more can produce an unsightly octopus of thick, thin and multi-colored wires that you don't need to see.

Two types to consider

Removing cabling from view needn't be difficult, and the result at the end is well worth it.There are two types of situations that need to be taken into account.

Additional cable management; solutions you need to find that are removed from the actual product.

Wall, ceiling and desk options

Logically, most cable management occurs either on a wall, ceiling or desk.

Walls and ceilings with cavities make the situation a lot easier. If you can work out how to thread the cables into the wall or ceiling, and then back out close to the power point the problem is solved.

If your wall is solid however, this isn't going to happen, and unattractive conduit, or more extreme hiding under carpet, can be just as annoying as visible cables.

In the same way, many of your desk cable problems occur "down below". Once you figure out getting your cables behind the desk (usually through a hole supplied) you can simply use cable ties, or wrap around desk legs to clear the cables from your fee.

This doesn't solve the problem of cords hanging out of your monitor.

Product options

The smartest form of cable management is that which is built into your product.

There are several ways in which this can occur. Full motion TV mounts extend from the wall, therefore cables need to be managed along the arms, whilst at the same time not allowing too much tension in different settings. This can be solved by allowing cables to be concealed within the arms.

Similarly, a TV ceiling mount can make best use of the pole between the unit and the roof space.

The biggest issues of PC's, when mounted, are between the monitor and the desk. As with TV monitors, solutions can be provided that hide cables both along the mount arms, and through the pole.

Telehook TH-3270-UFM is a full motion TV mount. Cable management occurs along the arms, again with cover plates that snap back in place.
