DRAM (Dynamic Random Access Memory) serves as the most common type of memory module for computers today. Earlier, when the SRAM (Static Random Access Memory) was used in the computers, there was no need to refresh the system again and again as it used to operate on the principle of moving current. With a better functionality of the capacitor and the transistor, DRAM performs very quickly.

SDRAM:

SDRAM (Synchronous Dynamic RAM) was the pioneer in advancement of Random Access Memory in the early stage of this era. It was quite faster than the other conventional types of RAM and proved a boon in increasing the computer efficiency. All the RAM manufacturers synchronized this particular RAM type with the clock speed, which is a feature of the microprocessor to increase efficiency. DDR RAM:

This type of RAM was about twice as expensive as conventional SDRAM memory. And the reason was obvious: it has a better clock speed, better speed and better efficiency. DDR RAM used to work at an improved memory clock speed of at least 200 MHz. But sooner this type was superseded by the new DDR2 RAM. As the name suggests, DDR2 RAM was based on the phenomenon of Double Data Rate' which obviously means more speed.

Recently, another version of RAM "DDR3" has steeped in the market that works with Triple Data Rate' system. Sooner or later, it will also overtake the market of DDR2 type. Computer RAMs are available in the market in various sizes (to store electronic data). You can easily come across RAMs ranging from 512MB to 2GB, 4GB, 8GB and even 16GB memory module.
