Computer Security And Its Main Threats

Computer security is associated with data, information and other important documents

saved in a computer system and it applies to protection of these valuable facts, data and information overall the owners property from being damaged theft and its losses in anyway. It maybe theft or damaged by some individual or by accident or from any natural disaster or calamity. It is also one of the most important tasks or factors we consider when we use a computer system.

There are many factors when we talk about a Computer security and we need to know all of them and how to deal with them and how to curb these security threats from various sources we receive very often. Before we discuss how to protect a computer system we need to get acquainted with the fact what exactly these threats are so that the solution will come automatically if once we know what are the factors they may cause a bad effect to a computer system or properly.

Here a point which is very important to be mentioned and that is a computer system can be an individual or for an enterprise or organization. As per the usage and requirements an enterprise can decide its policies and protection methodologies that maybe drastically different from an individual or stand alone Personal computer. We also need to keep the point in mind since a computer system is consisted of hardware, operating system and various other application software. Thus we will be focusing here only about windows based operating system and its security threats and measures.

In nut shell now we can say that the Computer security is a process to preventing and detect unauthorized use of a PC or a computer system. These Prevention measures help us to stop unauthorized users or intruders from accessing your computer system. Detection helps us to determine whether or not somebody attempted to beach into your system, and if one gets successful, so what they may have done.

What are the main threats for a Computer security system?

Network or Internet threat- It is well know factor that unless a computer comes in a network it will be safe most of the time and will function smoothly until interacts with other computer or networks it is connected with. Internet is the most widely used network rather it is called network of networks and this is the reason the chances of getting affected a PC is higher when it connects to the Internet. Virus threat, spyware or malware issues, data theft by these spywares are a common problem while using the Internet. But we cannot ignore the fact that without the Internet we cant imagine life today so rather stop using it we need to think and plan about security measures to protect a computer system.

Virus issue- This is a very common Computer security problem or threat people usually face and almost all the PC connected to the Internet are affected by a virus more or less.

Spyware a spyware steals important information from your computer and shares it with its destination i.e. it is intended to do. The information may be your password, bank details or any such valuable data that might cause you a heavy loss and certainly it is a big PC integrity issue for any PC user.

Accidental threats within a PC- Sometime it is seen that without any external interference a PC may get affected and can cause heavy data loss. The main reason behind this is a PC crashes, or blue screen of death BSOD (mainly due to incorrect or damaged drivers in the system).

Hardware failures- A computer is combination of hardware and software and importance of the hardware part cannot be ignored at all. A good hardware specification can protect and increase a PC performance immensely and also there is no alternate for hardware failure at all. In any case if a part or completely hardware fails it will lead huge data and valuable information loss subsequently. Thus it is very important to configure a computer system with good hardware specification.
