Do you remember the first time that you used a computer? How about the first time you use the Internet? I remember my friend showing me a chat room during the period of the Internet's infancy and just being blown away by the whole thing. The fact that I, as someone who lives in the United States, can speak to someone literally across the world on this little machine was absolutely amazing. This type of technological advance isn't just limited to the personal computer but also to larger computers things like the GE Fanuc PLC series, and namely the GE PLC series of component parts. The same technology that's made our personal computers smaller and more powerful has done the same for computers that fit larger needs, industrial needs for example. Technology has really come such a long way in such a short period of time that it's difficult to overstate exactly what's happened in what's being done in our modern society by computers. Our interaction with computers is almost ubiquitous and inescapable at this point. 50 years ago no one would have imagined that you'd be in contact with some type of computer mechanism on an almost a minute to minute basis, but that's exactly the point there were at in our society. It's interesting to think about where will be in another 50 years in terms of technology, I suppose we'll all this have to sit back and wait to see what the future holds. I for one am very excited about the prospect.
