Conditioner for African American Hair, Choosing the Conditioner that's Right for Your Hair
Have you ever wondered whether you were using the right conditioner for your hair
? How many times have you experienced a period of dryness (especially during the winter when the air is dry) and you tried to make up for it by putting on huge amounts of conditioner? You could be doing more harm than helping your hair. Using a single type of conditioner may not provide all that your hair needs to thrive and grow. You will have to learn how to read your hair, diagnose what it needs, and use the right products.
There are three basic conditioner types on the market:
1) Those that moisturize: Conditioners that moisturize the hair strands are simply used to provide moisture to the hair shaft to produce a soft effect. The hair strands will become more elastic and supple which makes the hair easier to comb, and you will have less breakage.
2) Those that strengthen: Conditioners that strengthen the hair play a major role in hair growth, but caution should be practiced with these types. These are the ones that include protein, and protein can sometimes not only strengthen the hair, but it can make the hair feel hard because of the strengthening agents. These types of conditioners should be used sparingly (once a month), and are usually used in the deep conditioning phase under the dryer followed by a rinse out conditioner or generous amounts of cream moisturizer to soften the hair after strengthening. Otherwise, if you do not follow up with this very important step, you may find more hair in your sink than on your head.
3) Those that nourish: Conditioners that nourish penetrate the hair and provide the necessary vitamins and nutrients that give your hair that special glow, shine, and vitality. Your hair will be healthy from the inside out, and you will be able to see the difference in going from dullness to a healthy shine.
In order to choose the correct conditioner, you must determine what your hair needs. There is an easy way to find out. Discover an important guide that goes into great detail explaining the art of how to read your hair, how to choose the right conditioner, how frequently to use the chosen conditioner, and helps you determine for what reason you are using it.
