Conduct Search Engine Marketing With Web 2.0
It is very common to get a huge list of search results when you key in a particular keyword
. It doesn't matter which search engine you choose, it can be Google, Yahoo or Bing. When you make a search using a very short and general keyword, you will get zillion results less than a second. The topics can be so wide that you can easily lose count of it. The search engine knows nothing about you and what exactly you are looking for. Thus they will come out with a super long list of results that had the keyword in it but a lot of it might not be related to what you want to find thus defeats the purpose.
This is when Web 2.0 can come into use to help reduce the search engine results. It will sieve out the unrelated information and thus making the search results more meaningful. You could incorporate Web 2.0 application into the search engine to do so.
This excess application will definitely be a great help in searching for related topics. For example, you could type your own username 'OOm' and 'blog' instead of just 'blog' alone. It could further limit the searches and help you cut down millions of pages that are totally irrelevant to what you want to find. Your search results will be reduced by 99.9% to a small 0.1% possibly. In this way, it will greatly reduce your search time, effort and cost.
This method should be widely use some time as it is good and useful. Other than helping to save search time, effort and cost, it also allows you to target more specific group of consumers. Users will not feel so annoyed with lesser but more targeted search engine results. The most annoying circumstance is when you come across untargeted banner advertisements on some free content. It may be understandable that the free content providers need these banner advertisements to keep their sites going. They received their revenue from the amount of traffic generate from the advertisement on their web which you find annoying.
However, they must also be aware that these untargeted advertisements may also discouraged users from visiting their site and thus their traffic will drop which will lead to the ending of contract for the advertisers.
If you wish to search for things that happened in the past, you could just limit the search engine to use part of the Web 2.0 application like using a date or time stamp to search for relevant results. For example, you want to find a primary school classmate. You can do a search by linking to Facebook and through there you will be able to find some of your friends who are linked to the same school. Your social network will be larger and thus give you a better insight. You might be able to find the person you are looking for in a much faster way with the help of your friends' network rather than searching alone. This is to let you have a better understanding of the basics of Web 2.0 application.
