Conservatories Adding The Finishing Touch To Any Home
When we have our own houses sometimes the issue of space (or the lack there of) can
be a real issue for home owners and its often the case that if we dont have enough space then we will move houses. However in recent years the subject of creating more space in your home has become more popular thanks to the many DIY and home renovation TV shows.
These shows make the process of adding space to your home look easy but in fact theres sometimes not much else you can do other than move furniture around and de-clutter your home. However in the past ten or fifteen years a specific addition to houses has become incredibly popular, popular to the point that most houses will now have one: conservatories.
Conservatories add not only an extra room to your property but they are made of glass so they allow plenty of light in. People use conservatories for a wide range of situations such as a dining room, a utility room or even just a nice place to sit and read the Sunday papers! In recent years weve had many people adding a conservatory of some form to the back or side of their homes.
Conservatories used to be made of wooden or aluminium frames that each had their advantages and disadvantages. Wooden conservatories looked great and didnt stand out as much but wood requires a lot of treatments and maintenance to avoid rotting. Aluminium whilst being more durable than wood also required maintenance to ensure that rust didnt occur.
The new trend for windows and doors of getting uPVC frames has spread to conservatories too as the material is incredibly durable without the maintenance requirements of wood and aluminium. Some home owners were not keen on the bright white appearance of the early designs but in recent years there are now mock wood effect frames that are very popular and can help keep your houses character without your conservatory looking like some kind of after-thought.
Getting uPVC conservatories has other advantages as well as you can get specialist windows that clean themselves. Dirt runs off the surface of the window and is washed off by rain water. A common complaint about some conservatories is that dirt and algae can form on the roof windows which apart from looking unattractive it can block out the sunlight, defeating the whole purpose of having a conservatory over an extension.
