There are two options when it comes to clip-ins. The first option is to purchase pre-packaged clip-ins. The other is to design and buy bespoke clip-ins.

Pre-packaged clip-in hair extensions are typically all of one colour and length. This means that you will have to cut them to the length that you want yourself and if you want a range of colours in your hair then you have to buy a number of different packages and combine them. This is really not ideal though.

Bespoke clip-in hair extensions are much better if you want natural looking length, volume and colour. You are able to design your clip-ins to look just like your own hair. Here is what you would need to do to achieve this.

The first thing to do is to take a very close look at your own hair. Take note of all the textures and various colours that are in your hair. Even the most matte looking hair will have some high and lowlights to it. You will often find that the hair at the nape of your neck is darker than that which originates at the crown of your head. Your hair could also be silky or fine or thick stranded.

The next thing to do is to find a hair extensions salon, either online or near your home, that can help you with ordering real hair extensions. There are not that many of them, but they do exist. Then you need to start designing your hair extensions.

You will want to have a number of different colours that are as closely matched to your own hair colours as possible. As you have noticed, hair does not come in a single colour. This means that you need to create your clip-ins to mimic your own hair as closely as possible. This is why going to the hair salon in person is best. You will be able to match your hair colour to their hair samples and get a closer match than if you were to try and order online. Once you have had them designed the first time you will be able to replicate the hair extension online though.

You will also need to have them at different lengths. This will give you hair a more natural look than if they were all the same length. Think about how a hair dresser cuts your hair. It generally gets layered a little so that some parts are shorter than others. This helps with giving the hair body. You will need to imitate this with your hair extensions.

Once you have designed the hair extensions that you want it is time to sit back and wait for your new hair extension set to arrive.
