Sunday in the morning you merrily cleaned your bathrooms, vacuumed, dusted, cleaned the glass, mopped, and changed the cat box. Then, you got married, and after a few months of muddling through you figured out the best time to clean. Then, you hit the cute little bundle of joy roadblock most of us hit. Again, you stumbled through and hit a new groove. Who needs a maid service? Well you looked up from your life one day, you realized that your potty training son is peeing all over the bathroom, your baby just spit up on the kitchen floor and the cat is leaving hair balls all around the house that you just can't even care about. Well you try, but as you vacuum those up baby is crying, and your older child is dumping a box of crayons.

With that description of most mom's lives let us consider a maid service. What a romantic idea. A nice lady comes to your home while you're at work or out running errands, she cleans, and you come home to a dusted, cat hair free, fresh smelling home. That is not the entire truth. While it is true that the nice lady will dust, vacuum, mop and clean the bathroom, she will not clean up those crayons. Basically your home has to be generally neat. The cleaner will do chores, but she will not tidy up your home. Toys must be picked up, books on the shelf, and you will have to upkeep between visits.

That being said it's not that your cleaner won't do big jobs. They will clean ceiling fans; they will vacuum out the registers, wash walls and curtains, dust the wall hangings, clean the oven, refrigerator, and even clean behind the furniture. In fact, on the first visit the cleaner will do the initial cleaning. This first visit will be more costly than the usual cleaning fee. Your cleaner will plan to wipe down the inside of your entire refrigerator and pull out the couch as part of the initial deep cleaning.

One more thing to consider in your quest for a maid service is who you hire. While you are itching to come home to that just cleaned house you want to consider who you are letting in. Going with an agency may be a wise choice as they will be more likely to run background checks, credit checks and employment history checks on applicants. They will also fully train their staff and that can be a real advantage. Not everyone knows how to clean. So get back to what you have found is truly important. Get back to spending your time snuggling your babies and enjoying time with your husband.
