Consumer Profiling, Privacy Nightmare Which Is Unavoidable?

Research has shown when it comes to an individual's privacy being protected for identification

in specific categories, very little has been done on a world wide basis. Of course there are a myriad of laws that, in general, tend to protect individuals having their privacy invaded.

This is illustrated on a regular basis by the many libel and slander cases celebrities file against newspapers, "gossip programs", and others who have intruded into their private lives.

Every one knows that a person has the right to protect the privacy of their home by shooting an intruder. However, there are apparently no laws to protect against invading a person's privacy by profiling.

It is apparent that a lawsuit against a data base for invasion of privacy would be an impossible thing to enforce since this modern day incursion of confidentiality consists of fragments of information.

One would hardly be able to sue a magazine company, for releasing one's name, a club that issues lists of their membership, a church for showing a donation or the many other sources of personal information. This information is accumulated and sold, for a profit, with businesses such as fast-lookup.com/Illinois/Mt-Carroll/815/244, which collect this material from various data bases.

Most people assume that privacy is a fundamental and granted human right, as well as essential in an established and properly functioning society. If privacy is identified by extension to protection from profiling, the question becomes, "If these particular fundamental human rights were established, who would enforce them?" The answer is, the federal government.

That is the same organization that has already established laws like the Patriot Act. This idea seems somewhat ironic, since under those circumstances it would just increase the amount of governmental surveillance.

The United Nations has an established Declaration of Human Rights. The general gist is that everyone has a right to their own opinions and free expressions and to hold these opinions, without interference from the government or others, and to exchange ideas and information through any and all medias. Funny how the ability to "exchange ideas and information through any and all medias" throws wide the gates for data base harvesting of our personal information.
