Have you Experienced Stomach Pain While Taking Accutane
?
Accutane is a prescription drug that is indicated for the treatment of severe cystic acne. Severe cystic acne refers to acne involving multiple cysts within a given region that are 5mm or greater. Due to severe side effects, Accutane use should be limited to individuals who have not responded to other therapies including antibiotics. If you are female, you cannot take Accutane if you are pregnant or will become pregnant. Accutane is known to cause severe birth defects and is contraindicated. Accutane therapy usually runs for 15 to 20 weeks. A second round of therapy may be administered eight weeks after finishing the first regime if deemed necessary by your physician.
Accutane has been associated with severe sides affects such as Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD) (including Crohn's disease and ulcerative colitis), depression, suicidal thoughts, suicide and birth defects.
Accutane stomach issues have been reported by some patients. Whether you are currently taking Accutane or have taken Accutane in the past, stomach pain may be a serious symptom of Accutane side effects that needs to be reported to your healthcare provider immediately. This may be a sign that you have IBD and will increase your chances of developing cancer of the colon. Accutane has been associated with IBD (including Crohn's disease and ulcerative colitis) in patients with and without prior history of this disease. If you are experiencing Accutane stomach issues with severe diarrhea and bleeding, you need to stop taking Accutane immediately and contact your doctor. Abdominal pain may appear as a bellyache or cramping and generally is a nonspecific symptom demonstrated by a number of conditions. Severity of pain does not always indicate severity of your condition. Even mild stomach issues can indicate life threatening conditions such as Crohn's disease, ulcerative colitis or even colon cancer to mention a few. Stomach pain can also be produced by poisons, infections, liver dysfunction and kidney dysfunction. Listed below are some medical conditions that can bring about stomach pain:
Liver disease
Hepatitis
Lupus
Pancreatitis
Bowel obstruction
Abdominal cancer
Colon cancer
Ulcerative colitis
Crohn's disease
Inflammatory Bowel Disease
This is not a complete list but all the above conditions have been associated with the use of Accutane whether you care currently taking this therapy or have taken it in the past. Further information is available from the Crohn's and Colitis Foundation of America, Inc as well as the Mayo Clinic if you have further concerns.
If you feel that you have experienced Accutane stomach issues such as Crohn's disease or ulcerative colitis or any other Accutane side effect you may be entitled to financial compensation. You may want to contact an Accutane lawyer to see if you qualify for an Accutane lawsuit. Accutane lawsuits are currently being filed across the country.
