Contracting A Professional Roof

Choosing a contractor to work in the second most important structural part of your home can be challenging

. There are several things you can do to make sure you get the right contractor. Here are some tips to keep in mind when choosing a contractor.

1.If a friend tells you he is pleased with the contractors who did his roof, do not be afraid and ask questions. Did the contractor kept the schedule on time? Were there flower, scrubs borders protected? Was the patio clean during and after the job? Were the gutter and downspouts clean? Did they received the proper warranty? If the answer to this questions is YES, get the contractors name and number and call them for an estimate.

2.You can talk to the local roofing material suppliers and ask for names of contractors who are doing top quality work.

3.Check with the state and county offices to make sure your contractor is properly licensed. Also check with the Better Business Bureau to see what and how are their rating.

4.Does your contractor have the company name and phone number painted on his trucks and other equipment.

5.Well-maintained and clean or new equipment speaks well for a contractor, but beware that none of the equipment has the company name.

6.Call the numbers that the contractor gives you. Make sure you have more than one way to communicate with the contractor.

7.Get the license number and a description of the contractor's vehicle.

8.The contractor should be able to provide you with references including names, address, and

phone number of previous customers. We recommend you not just call them but go and see the job and ask the customer how was the experience with the roofers.

9.How carefully did the contractor measure the roof? Did he just glance at it from the ground and gave a figure?

10.Make sure that you do not sing or give any money in advance without reading carefully the contract.

A good roofing contractor will not have any problem proving all or any more information you request. When a contractor lies about insurance, references or jobs he had done is not an honest contractor and most likely he just want to get your money or even worst he can damage the structure of the house living it in extremely bad condition. Do your homework and look for a contractor that is right for you. Remember that some time the inexpensive in the long run turns out to be more expensive than the original price.
