Contractors Are Making A Difference In Afghanistan

Contractors in Afghanistan have continued to grow in population as they continue

to provide a wide range of tasks essential for operations including maintenance, construction, transportation, security and base support. Without contractors, military and peace-keeping operations would get bogged down with operations instead of achieving their end goal of bringing stability and independence to Afghanistan.

Contractors are used more and more in a supportive role during over seas operations. Contractors with specialized skills work with the military and primarily focus on logistics and reconstruction work - crucial roles in Afghanistan where there is a limited infrastructure.

Military needs contractors to support non-combat services

In Afghanistan, contractors provide non-combat support services to mobilize thousands of personnel, support equipment and supplies at a moment's notice. This includes providing logistics, construction of base camps, housing, transportation and all the daily essentials of food services, laundry and recreation.

Count on contractors to build, operate and maintain facilities

Whether a base camp needs setup at a remote location or facilities added to an existing one, a team of contractors can build, operate and maintain facilities as needed. This includes public works, telecommunications, security, medical facilities, waste management and any other service needed.

Contractors can get you there

Much of Afghanistan is desert and perhaps in most remote locations, with limited routes and roads to get places. Contractors have the ability to lay the groundwork for roads and to maintain roads and grounds in and out of base camps to help our military run more efficiently and safer.

Contractors also play an important role in fueling and maintaining all of the transportation used by the military. They are trained in all types of equipment and offer training development and presentation for a multitude of equipment types from vehicles for travel, tanks and machines used for building and constructing.

Police Training and Procedures

Many contractors consist of retired military, police and those who can provide specialized police training to Afghan police and the Afghan National Army. It's important to teaching basic weapon skills and police protective measures, but also to help the Afghan police to find their own structure that works and integrate their beliefs and values into a system that will help them succeed within Afghanistan and its new government. The goal is not to teach them the "western ways" of police work but to rather give them the basic training and management needs to develop a police system that works for them within their own unique culture.
