Copper Is Used In Different Forms For Different Uses

While you may know a lot about the copper metal

, but it will help to have more information about the different types of copper wires that are as follows:

1.Wire You must be aware of copper wire that is a very good conductor of heat and electric current. Hence, it is used in making of various electrical appliances. But as a precaution, make sure that you test the metal properly before putting it to use as even a small amount of contamination can badly affect the performance of appliances

2.Rod It is not very commonly seen as the major applications are commercial. These can be moulded into different shapes and sizes such as round, squares depending on the needs of the user

3.Strip Strips have the capacity to handle heavy volume without getting succumbed to the pressure created. This is common for construction sites and heavy volume manufacturing

4.Cadmium This is an alloy that contains somewhere between 0.1 to 1.5% cadmium or other metals. The main reason behind adding cadmium is that it makes the alloy more resistant to becoming soft at high levels of temperature. Its main use is in making of electric blankets, strong transmission lines etc.

These are put to different uses in different areas today on the basis of their properties, which are discussed below:

Stranded copper wire They are used when high tolerance levels are required for vibration and expansion giving more flexibility. This is required for use in connectors connected in different types of electrical appliances. These appliances have to sustain major jolts that happen due to higher vibrations. But you need not worry about varying levels as the manufacturer will take care of that for you

Armoured Cable These are a form of PVC insulated cables. They are used to supply power and for earthing of wires, which are generally applied to the underground transmission systems, ducting for cables and power systems. Additionally, it has a flexible covering for steel making it tougher and highly elastic. This property is extremely important for power supply functions

Silver Enamelled copper It has a very interesting use of replacing the sterling silver in jewellery. These are also resistant to tarnishing and is therefore, used extensively

Glass wire Stranded wire is used to make glass wire, which is mainly made up of bare or tin copper. In order to make glass wire, glass tape lapping is done after which fibre glass thread braiding is required. Finally, a plating of varnish completes the process. This flow makes the glass wire more resistant to temperature and hence, it can be effectively used for heaters, electric or submersible motors etc. that require high temperatures

Knowing more the different properties makes it easier for a user to select from many available options. But equally important is to source the material from a reputed supplier whoassists in getting the right kind of copper wire for you.
