Corbett - good break from the routine

Hello there,

Hello there,

Was again off for a nice week long holiday from 21st August till the 29th.

21st Aug, Saturday: Left Mumbai in August Kranti Rajdhani departing at 1620.

22nd Aug, Sunday: Reached Hazrat Nizammudin. Visit my Mami. She is a real role model for our family. My Mama (Uncle who was my mother's friend in college who she considered as brother) expired few years back. He was in a job and had got paralysis attack. His daughters were extremely well mannered and talented, got the pressure of driving the home. They were chased and harassed by couple of crooks and one of them went mentally ill. Seeing her, the other sister also went mad. Recently both of them died. My Mami still holds strong and has seen so many miseries in her life time with real guts and still stands tall with a smile on her face. She used to take up small jobs and run the family.

Today she is all alone, having terrible pain in legs but still surviving with a brave heart in Delhi. Whenever we visit Delhi, we make sure of paying a visit to her and helping her out in some way or the other.

A lady worth praises, she always returns the favor with gifts and blessings which hardly people could have imagined. Any other person in her shoes, would have either committed suicide or become depressed. But her belief in God is as strong as any normal individual existing on earth.

23rd Aug, Monday: My Parents alongwith my Sister in law, nephew and niece visited Patanjali ashram, Haridwar to see a glimse of Swami Ramdev The Living Legend on Earth.

Swami Ramdev has some hundreds of crores of Rupees from people all over India, even abroad. He challenges that not even a single rupee is kept for his own benefit. He has started factories, hospital and clinics (spread all over India) for offering quality services to masses at cheaper rates. He ploughs in the collected funds in, and offers the services and best quality product to people. There are millions of people in and outside India claiming to have CURED cancer, paralysis, blood pressure, obesity, infertility issues by following his Pranayam techniques and other Yogic asanas.

Salute to Swami Ramdev. Amazing individual with commendable guts, sense of responsibility, commitment and service to Motherland.

24th Aug, Tuesday: Family had a plan to visit Agra which was later cancelled since we had visited Agra just last year on 11th March on the day of festival "Holi" so we decided to just take a day off and relax at the hotel.

Instead they visited Rajpath for having a look at Indira Gandhi's house which is now a museum. Kept there are the blood stained clothes, shoes of Indira Gandhi when she was shot. The place where she was shot is marked by a black stone. Also an exciting attraction is Rajiv Gandhi's clothes after the human bomb exploded claiming his life. Its just some rags of clothes. Worth seeing!!!!

25th Aug, Wednesday: We left at 4:30 am for Jim Corbett. Everyone in the family of 7 was excited to the core with the idea of going in the jungle area.

Drive to Jim Corbett is around 350 kms where we passed Hapur by pass - Gajraula - Moradabad by-pass, Kashipur to reach Corbett.

We had made the stay arrangements at Corbett Woods Resort which is 3kms away from Jhirna gate.

The journey to Jim Corbett is superb with a beautiful stretch of roads except for some pot holes that too on National Highway 24 (bizarre state of tolerating people in India, Anyways!!!!)

We reached Corbett Woods by 1ish.

The hotel manager had given us a courtesy call to check if we had any problem reaching the resort.

We had the best of food at the Resort. Must say never had such a beautiful preparation ever before. Awesome food.

The Director of the hotel was excellent in his hospitality and helped us with the planning for our two days stay there.

Taking his advice, we went for the Jungle Safari which was organised by the resort and included in the stay package. Safari with the guide.

The safari started at 3:30 and we were back to our resort at 7. We spotted herd of deers and saw lot of Black and Red face monkeys.

The guide did a good job of information dissemination about Tigers. He told us the average age is around 10 to 15 years. The cub is trained by 2-3 years and leaves the Tiger family, gets separated from them for his own hunt. He showed us the tiny mountains that the termites had made. He said termites eat the trees and are very useful for the forest coz the decomposed trees enrich the fertility of the soil. He also informed us about some trees and their uses for curing ailments.

Unconsciously I started feeling bad about my Motherland which I feel is the best place on Earth with an edge over other countries in terms of culture, hospitality, food, festivals, people, and tourist attractions. Such a huge opportunity for superb money minting Tourist business which can transform the country's economy but untapped!!!! So sad!!! I had visited Singapore in 2007. They took us on Jungle safari and we had spotted lions, tigers, elephants, deers, and almost all animals. To add to our excitement, this was followed by night safari. What a beautiful time we had I just can't explain that in words. The mentality of a tourist especially when he visit a Core area of any jungle is to spot Tigers, Lions and get the excitement, return home with a feeling of achievement and mesmerize the relatives, friends and colleagues with how the actual experience was. Jim Corbett agreed is a real life, open jeep experience to spot a tiger but hardly 1 out of 25 tourists must be getting a chance to see it. I mean!!! Only 1 satisfied customer is definitely not going to spread his word against 24 dissatisfied ones.

We returned and munched on our favorite brilliantly cooked dinner forgetting the sorrows of forget tigers not even seeing an elephant. The hospitality of the staff and the personal attention of Director made all the sorrows trivial in comparison to the fun that we were having. Plus Stay in Deluxe tents made it just a perfect ambience for a superb break.

26th August, Thursday: The morning was more beautiful with beautiful lush green mountains around, chirping birds and beautiful climate.

After the beautiful breakfast and fantastic lunch, Sorry we have been die hard fans of the food, just cant stop praising the cooking, we left for a drive to Corbett museum and a temple, which was a good time we spent. Back to resort, after a sumptuous meal, into the superb and cozy tent on the soft bed under the soft quilts.

27th August, Friday: After breakfast we drove back to Delhi and relaxed in our hotel.

28th August, Saturday: After a bit of shopping, marketing buy sweets for folks in Amchi Mumbai, we boarded August Kranti at 16:55. On time departure, on time arrival beautiful train journey.
