. Different job families present unique safety challenges to that position. A Certified Safety Professional (CSP) can work with your company to improve working conditions across all job families.
The Certified Safety Professional will take a firsthand account of the working conditions at your facility as each employee fulfills their daily responsibilities. The unique role of each position requires an evaluation by the CSP to determine the safety concerns. The CSP will compile a detailed report and will include specific recommendations for immediate implementation for the different job roles. Some of the recommendations may include revising company policy in regards to employee safety. A corporate culture of safety must be endorsed and taken seriously by the company for the employees to share these beliefs. Issued protective equipment does not help protect the employee if that equipment is sitting in the employees locker and not being utilized. The company should have an enforcement system established to ensure each employee is implementing that safety device during their daily duties.
Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) may also be issued and inspected by the Certified Safety Professional. Employees face different challenges and should have protective equipment that is specific to their job role. A painter may need a respirator, while a construction crew member would need a hard hat. The CSP has the training to identify the safety challenges in each job role and recommend equipment to protect the employee.
Employees come in different shapes and sizes and some safety equipment must be fit to the individual for it to be effective. A respirator may come in different sizes or have adjustment straps to create an air tight seal. The CSP can ensure that each piece of equipment works for that specific employee, and is properly maintained and functioning. The CSP should make regularly scheduled visits to re-inspect the working order of the equipment and to ensure the employees size or shape has not changed over that period of time. An employee that has experienced weight loss or gain may require a different size than previously required.
