First and foremost is to make that your company has a website or a corporation search will yield minimal results for you. It is 2009 and no company, much less a giant corporation with extra money to spend, should be without an online web presence. Not having a web site these days can actually hurt your business, as many consumers, when they need information, will turn to the web first, before anything else. There a couple ways to go about getting a website. A web design company can make one that is clean and professional, although it may be kind of pricey. A freelancer who specializes in web design can probably produce something of the same quality, except for a much cheaper price.

Once you have the website up and running, the next thing to work on is making sure that when customers do an online corporation search that your company name is returned in the results. The way to do this involves a practice called search engine optimization or SEO, which is when certain key terms are associated with your site in its Meta tags. When those words are typed into a search engine, the better chance your site has of being one of the top results.

Another step you can take to help make sure a potential customer can find your business when they do a corporation search either online or offline is to add your company to a business directory. A business directory is simply a listing of business names that are often times sorted by things like name, location, or type of business. The directory also lists basic information such as the business address, and the business phone number. Business directories have commonly been found in printed form, and while they still can be, the online versions of these listings have taken over, just like everything else in the printed world. A few directories may charge to list a business, but the majority will do it for free.
