Corrective Surgery For Receding Gums

Dentists Health Services: I walked into the dentist office for a regular dental service

, routine oral exam and teeth and oral cleaning. Just like every other time at the dentist routine health services, the dentist assistants measured my gums, completed an x-ray service of my teeth and bone, and performed the routine dental plaque and dental tartar removal and fluoride polishing. Most all of this was done by the dentist assistants. Then when the dentist came in to see me and check my teeth and oral health, he mentioned that the gums on my lower front teeth were receding excessively.

I was still a teenager and didn't know much about such dental things, but to put it into perspective for my teenage mind, my dentist said that if my gums continued to recede at the rate they were going, I would lose those teeth early in life. Of course, that was horrible dental news to hear for a teenager who cares much about her appearance including her teeth. So, my parents talked to the dentist as well about the dental issue and dental solutions, since it was their dental insurance I was on and their pocketbooks that would be paying for the dental corrective surgery that the dentist recommended. Since, the dentist was more of a general dentist, he referred me and my parents to a dentist who specialized in such dental work as gum tissue grafting.

After the dental health services and dental corrective surgery: I have since thought little about my dental surgery and necessary oral tissue grafting, but when I do think of this dental procedure I come up with other ideas of why maybe my oral tissue receded so quickly. The solution I have come up with is first that dental tissue/oral gum tissue receding in my bottom front teeth area was in my DNA.

My grandfather had a retainer that had fake teeth on it that he wore during the day. This was only for his four bottom teeth. I never dared ask him why his teeth fell out, but looking at his mouth and smile I think it is from dental tissue receding since his dental teeth in that area look very long, too long actually like the oral tissue has receded away to expose more of the dental teeth than is necessary. A dentist who had the anesthesia and technology of today could have kept him from losing his teeth, but a dentist today came up with a solution that worked for him and that was to provide a dental retainer of fake teeth for him to wear.

Other dental ideas about the cause for the dental surgery: The other issue I have come up with which a dentist never told me is that I play the flute and my flute rests on that area where those oral tissues had receded. I wondered if pushing on the oral gum tissue had increased the natural receding that my dental DNA make up for that dental area.

The third dental reason for the oral gum tissue receding and necessity for dental surgery which I think a dentist would agree with is that I didn't floss regularly and I was also predisposed to have dental tartar and dental plaque build-up in the bottom part of my oral cavity just right on those bottom front teeth right in front of my oral saliva glands.
