Cosmetic Surgery : A Guide To Liposuction
If your body has areas of excessive fatty tissue
, or you want to improve the overall shape of your body, then you might want to consider liposuction cosmetic surgery.
If you any of the following apply to you, then you are a good candidate for liposuction cosmetic surgery...
-You have excess fat areas in the neck, arms, back, breasts, ankles, calves, thighs, saddlebags, love handles, hips, buttocks or stomach.
-You have areas of fatty deposits that aren't in proportion with the remainder of your body, and that don't go away even after exercise and diet. This is also known as diet resistant fat.
-Your fatty tissues are not around areas where you have excess, sagging skin - skin elasticity being important since liposuction only removes fat and not skin.
If you decide to go ahead with having liposuction surgery, then the first step is to find yourself a plastic surgeon. They will then discuss the procedure with you, ask what look you would like to achieve, and tell you how close to that look surgery will be able to take you. There is no need to hold back or feel shy during this consultation, in fact, the more frank and honest you are, the more likely you are to be pleased with the end results.
You will want to make note of prior surgeries, medical conditions you have now, or that you have had before, along with any medications and allergies. Be sure to provide complete information, since some conditions can affect your eligibility for surgery.
So, how exactly will your surgeon help you achieve your dream look? Well, liposuction cosmetic surgery removes the fatty tissue you want to get rid of with a hollow tube, or canula, that will be passed through your fatty areas. Some surgeons use a pump that creates a vacuum, and this process is known as suction-assisted liposuction or SAL. A motor may help the canula vacillate, and this process is called power-assisted liposuction or PAL. Sound waves may also be used to break down the fat cells, and ready them to be removed, or a laser may be used to break the fatty tissue down.
You do not need to overly concern yourself with the various different methods of liposuction though, as your surgeon will, having advised you and listened to your feedback, make the final decision. They will have performed liposuction many times before, so you can rest assured that they will know exactly what will be right for you.
There are generally no significant complications after liposuction cosmetic surgery, and it is one of the more common procedures that plastic surgeons perform. Most times this surgery does not cause any major problems, and you will be back to your regular schedule within about ten days after your surgery.
You will notice results from the liposuction surgery as soon as the bandages are taken off, however, the full results can take several months to make themselves clear. The incisions used for inserting the canula will fade over a period of a few months, and will usually become barely visible.
