There are a number of uses for cotton towels about the home

Cleaning windows inside and out with soft cleaning cloths leaves glass looking shiny without streaks. It enhances the exterior and interior of a home. Standing from the street, a shiny window is noticeable to neighbors and passersby. It is the finishing touch on a home that looks well-cared for.

Kitchen

After washing pots and pans, it is important to carefully dry them and put them away. This is best done with cotton terrycloth towels. They absorb water and increase the lifespan of stainless steel. Aluminum, copper and most metal pans must be dried thoroughly to prevent rust and deterioration.

Furniture

A good furniture polish and a soft cotton cloth can do wonders for wood. The right product can give furniture an aromatic, glossy shine. Use cotton rags that do not shed or lose strings. They should be clean and not contaminated with other cleaning fluids. In between special polishings, furniture should be lightly wiped down with a clean, dry lint-free cloth to ward off any dust build-up.

Fireplace mantles are dusty by nature. Not only are they rarely touched and rearranged, but thin films of soot and ash accumulate from light breezes in less-than-airtight chimneys. Feather dusters may be used for some objects, but a thorough cleaning must be done by a soft rag.

Keeping the family car clean and in good repair is an important part of prolonging the life of the vehicle. Checking the fluids, such as the oil, transmission fluid, anti-freeze and windshield washer fluid is part of every do-it-yourself car owner's routine. All dipsticks should be first wiped off with a dry rag before checking the fluid level, wiping the dipstick again and replacing the rod in its holder. Cotton rags are also helpful for washing and waxing the family vehicle. It can be done quickly and efficiently at home in the driveway without having to venture out to a carwash. This is less expensive and also carries less risk of vehicle damage from one-size-fits-all machinery.
