Create Your Own Luck
Do you think you are lucky? Unlucky? Chances are that whatever you think is affecting your ability to attract or repel luck.
Have you ever said to yourself, I knew that would happen!? Its amazing our ability to be prophetic at times. Our expectations, whether conscious or unconscious, will often determine our results. Our mind communicates in pictures, sounds, feelings, and self-talk, and if you plant negative expectations into your unconscious, then that is the result you will get. Unfortunately, too much of our time is spent thinking about, and even searching for, the very things we dont want!
The trick to changing your results, then, is to change your expectations.
If you have ever played sport, you might at times have thought, I dont want to fail!...I never want to lose another match!...I am not a loser!? Be carefulthat is one way you might get exactly what you dont want because it becomes your whole focus. The mind doesnt hear/see/feel the word not. It only gets the pictures, sounds and feelings you create in your mind. If you imagine worst-case scenarios like not getting the job interview or your new business failing, what do you think youre more likely to create?
It is not only our physical habits that produce our results. It is our habitual thinking that will most often determine our outcomes, including expectations based in the kinds of unconscious fears, doubts, inner conflicts that sabotage our conscious desires. Its only when you start examining these, truthfully, that you start to see the reason why events occur.
I think we create our own luck through our attitude, our beliefs as well as our actions. Many people have been touted as being an overnight success, but it takes years and years to become an overnight success, years and years of doing the little things that matter in the end. More often than not, it is the small ordinary things done regularly that earn us our success.
However, the little things done consistently can also create the undesired results in your life. Repeatedly eating the poor foods will lead to ill-health. Repeatedly trying to do the least can affect your results. Non-actions can be just as harmful. Not showing up for meetings, not learning new skills, not saying nothese all have bigger consequences in the end than we may ever recognize. Those insidious self-doubts or negative attitudes you tell yourself about your performance or abilities work in the same way.
When you catch yourself expecting negative outcomes, think about what it is you really want instead. For example, try this simple experiment next time you are running late for an appointment and stuck in traffic. Rather than reinforcing that you are going to be late, predict the time you will arrive (on-time) and create the picture in your mind of arriving on time easily. Ive done this on numerous occasions and love how the traffic eases up or makes way for me, and I make it on the time I predict. You can use this to predict or anticipate many more useful results in your life.
You have probably heard of people who manifest parking spaces all the time. I do it with remarkable consistency. If that is possible, then what else can you manifest? What else can you create in your life? Start to be aware of opportunities around you and you will see them.
