Creating A Large Computer Network

Many companies use the same computer network for all their computers

. This makes things easier as they can share files and printers. Setting up this big of a network can be tricky, but with the right know how you'll be able to get it done.

First of all, you should know that there are a few different ways to set up a computer network. You can use a hub, switch, or wireless router depending on what works best for your situation. The easiest way to set up your network is with routers, but if you know what you're doing the other ways won't be too hard either.

Using a wireless router is a very popular way to go because it sets up a wireless network. You must have a wireless network service in order to use a wireless router. The router is so popular because of its easy set-up and it's built in firewall protections.

Once the wireless router is installed, you can add as many laptops to it as you want. If you want to hook a desktop computer up you will need cables connecting to the router. To expand the network you can simply hook a hub or switch to your router to allow for more computers.

A switch will need to be linked to your computers with network cables. On the back of your switch you will see how many computers can be linked to the network by how many Ethernet ports there are. If you want more computers than this, you will need another switch and possibly a network adaptor.

When working with hubs, you will have to be careful about how away you place them. Using a crossover cable you can place the hubs about 100 meters apart before your signal starts to fade. This is also the same for switches.

Computer networks can be as big as you want as long as you have enough network devices. The problems you might run into with such large networks are mainly security issues and network overloads. If you are experiencing an overload consider setting up two separate networks. Security issues can be resolved easily with proper software.

To get your network up and running, you need to make sure you have the right equipment so it doesn't take longer than necessary. Read all the manuals and handbooks so you know exactly how to set everything up. Creating large computer networks may seem like a lot of work, but with proper knowledge it's not so bad.
