Find a really good picture of yourself. Do not use a stock photo of someone else. The picture needs to be one of you. Some online research has shown that people who post pictures of themselves doing something get more responses. If you play guitar, post a picture of you playing the guitar. While it is not necessary to name your exact weight (this is not a physical exam, after all), you can give the man a general idea of what you look like by using words, such as slender, toned, pleasantly plump, pillow soft, curvy, fluffy, and so forth. You can use age descriptors that indicate your approximate age, such as mid-40s, late 70s, and so on.

Many women are raising children alone. It is important to reveal this information in your profile. You do not have to get into all of the gritty details of your custody arrangement; however, by saying that you are a single mom, you will automatically eliminate the men who have no interest in children.

Avoid using text abbreviations in your profile. Write in complete sentences with words spelled out as they should be. Do not write "u" for "you, " for instance. Text talk is fine if you are texting, but not for your profile. Your profile needs to be written in grammatically-correct sentences, spellchecked and read aloud to see if it makes sense. If it does not, you can fix it before you post it.

Writing an online dating profile that stands out from the crowd may take some time; however, it will be time well spent. A well-written profile will attract people who are interested in the real you, which is the whole point of online dating, isn't it?
